¹⁸ Then Melchizedek, king of Salem,^[a](A) brought out bread and wine; he was a priest to God Most High.^{(B) 19} He blessed him and said:

And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.^(C)

³ Then the tempter approached Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”^(A)

⁷ And he cried out with a loud voice, “What do You have to do with me,^[a] Jesus, Son^(A) of the Most High God?^(B) I beg^[b] You before God, don’t torment^(C) me!”

⁶ But one without this^[a] lineage collected tenths from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.^(A)
