¹⁶ But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, ^(A)the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.

¹² And he ^(A)dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder^[a] set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, ^(B)the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!

Jacob Fears Esau

32 Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. ² And when Jacob saw them he said, “This is God's ^(A)camp!” So he called the name of that place ^(B)Mahanaim.^[a]

The Call of Gideon

¹¹ Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash ^(A)the Abiezrite, while his son ^(B)Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites.

^3 (A)And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.

²⁸ Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of ^(A)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who ^(B)has sent his angel and ^(C)delivered his servants, who ^(D)trusted in him, and set aside^[a] the king's command, and yielded up their bodies rather than ^(E)serve and worship any god except their own God.
