12 And the man[a] replied,[b] “The woman whom you gave to be with me—she gave to me from the tree and I ate.” 13 Then[c] Yahweh God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 Then[d] Yahweh God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
you will be cursed
more than any domesticated animal
and more than any wild animal.[e]
On your belly you shall go
and dust you shall eat
all the days of your life.
