^42 (A)If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the ^(B)Fear of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(C)God saw my affliction and the labour of my hands and ^(D)rebuked you last night.”

⁷ Then the Lord said, ^(A)“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their ^(B)taskmasters. I know their sufferings,

³¹ And the people ^(A)believed; and when they heard that the Lord had ^(B)visited the people of Israel and that he had ^(C)seen their affliction, ^(D)they bowed their heads and worshipped.

⁷ Then ^(A)we cried to the Lord, the God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression.
