³⁰ Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble on me,^(A) making me odious to the inhabitants of the land,^(B) the Canaanites and the Perizzites.^(C) We are few in number; if they unite against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”^(D)

⁹ Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen^(A) to him because of their broken spirit and hard labor.

¹¹ They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?
