¹⁴ So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon.^(A) When he had shaved^(B) and changed his clothes,^(C) he came before Pharaoh.

⁸ “The person to be cleansed must wash their clothes,^(A) shave off all their hair and bathe with water;^(B) then they will be ceremonially clean.^(C) After this they may come into the camp,^(D) but they must stay outside their tent for seven days. ⁹ On the seventh day^(E) they must shave off all their hair;^(F) they must shave their head, their beard, their eyebrows and the rest of their hair. They must wash their clothes and bathe themselves with water, and they will be clean.^(G)

⁵ “‘Priests must not shave^(A) their heads or shave off the edges of their beards^(B) or cut their bodies.^(C)

⁹ “‘If someone dies suddenly in the Nazirite’s presence, thus defiling the hair that symbolizes their dedication,^(A) they must shave their head on the seventh day—the day of their cleansing.^(B)

¹⁸ “‘Then at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the Nazirite must shave off the hair that symbolizes their dedication.^(A) They are to take the hair and put it in the fire that is under the sacrifice of the fellowship offering.

¹⁹ “‘After the Nazirite has shaved off the hair that symbolizes their dedication, the priest is to place in their hands a boiled shoulder of the ram, and one thick loaf and one thin loaf from the basket, both made without yeast.^(B)

¹² Bring her into your home and have her shave her head,^(A) trim her nails

¹⁷ So he told her everything.^(A) “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite^(B) dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.”

¹⁹ After putting him to sleep on her lap, she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him.^[a] And his strength left him.^(A)

²² But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.
