¹⁷ Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “In my dream I was standing on the bank of the Nile,^(A)

¹⁴ The name of the third river is the Tigris;^(A) it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.^(B)

²² Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile,^(A) but let every girl live.”^(B)

⁵ Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank.^(A) She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it.

¹⁵ Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river.^(A) Confront him on the bank of the Nile,^(B) and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.
