14 Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean. 15 Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple. 16 Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

14 Then Haggai said, “‘So it is with this people(A) and this nation in my sight,’ declares the Lord. ‘Whatever they do and whatever they offer(B) there is defiled.
15 “‘Now give careful thought(C) to this from this day on[a]—consider how things were before one stone was laid(D) on another in the Lord’s temple.(E) 16 When anyone came to a heap(F) of twenty measures, there were only ten. When anyone went to a wine vat(G) to draw fifty measures, there were only twenty.(H)
