Hebrews 10:36-38
Contemporary English Version

36 Learn to be patient, so you will please God and be given what he has promised. 37 (A) As the Scriptures say,

“God is coming soon!
    It won't be very long.
38 The people God accepts
will live because
    of their faith.[a]
But he isn't pleased
with anyone
    who turns back.”

36 You need to persevere(A) so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.(B) 37 For,

“In just a little while,
    he who is coming(C) will come
    and will not delay.”[a](D)

38 And,

“But my righteous[b] one will live by faith.(E)
    And I take no pleasure
    in the one who shrinks back.”[c](F)
