15 If this was only a bit of nostalgia for a time and place they left behind, then certainly they might have turned around and returned. 16 But such saints as these look forward to a far better place, a heavenly country. So God is not ashamed to be called their God because He has prepared a heavenly city for them.
17 By faith Abraham, when he endured God’s testing, offered his beloved son Isaac as a sacrifice. The one who had received God’s promise was willing to offer his only son;

15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.(A) 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one.(B) Therefore God is not ashamed(C) to be called their God,(D) for he has prepared a city(E) for them.
