Hebrews 11:17-19

Good News Translation

¹⁷^(A)It was faith that made Abraham offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice when God put Abraham to the test. Abraham was the one to whom God had made the promise, yet he was ready to offer his only son as a sacrifice. ¹⁸^(B)God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that you will have the descendants I promised.” ¹⁹Abraham reckoned that God was able to raise Isaac from death—and, so to speak, Abraham did receive Isaac back from death.

Hebrews 11:17-19

New International Version

¹⁷By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.^(A) He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, ¹⁸even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”^[a]^(B) ¹⁹Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead,^(C) and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.
