Hebrews 12:3-5

New Living Translation

³Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people;^[a] then you won’t become weary and give up. ⁴After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

⁵And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children?^[b] He said,

“My child,^[c] don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t give up when he corrects you.

⁴In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.^(B) ⁵And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
