to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Without father, without mother, (A)without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like (B)the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.

Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the (C)patriarch, (D)gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.

and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy,(A) without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God,(B) he remains a priest forever.

Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch(C) Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!(D)
