who serve (A)a copy and (B)shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses [a]was (C)warned by God when he was about to erect the [b]tabernacle; for, “(D)See,” He says, “that you make all things by the pattern which was shown to you on the mountain.” But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, to the extent that He is also the (E)mediator of (F)a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.

A New Covenant

For (G)if that first covenant had been free of fault, no [c]circumstances would have been sought for a second.

They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy(A) and shadow(B) of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned(C) when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a](D) But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(E) of which he is mediator(F) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(G)
