Chapter 9
The Ancient Worship.[a] 1 Now the first covenant also had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary. 2 For a tabernacle was constructed. In the outer section, called the Holy Place, were located the lampstand, the table, and the consecrated bread.

- Hebrews 9:1 Once a year, on the Day of Atonement (see Lev 16:2-19; Ex 30:10), the high priest entered alone into the innermost part of the temple, the Holy of Holies. He poured blood on the altar to obtain forgiveness of sins. (For more details on the worship in the temple, see Ex 25–31 and 35–40.)
