Hebrews 9:18-20

¹⁸Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated ^(A)without blood. ¹⁹For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took ^(B)the blood of calves and goats, ^(C)with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, ²⁰saying, ^(D)“This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.”

¹⁸This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.^(A) ¹⁹When Moses had proclaimed^(B) every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves,^(C) together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.^(D) ²⁰He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”^[a]^(E)
