And now they sin more and more. They make false gods for themselves. Their able workmen make them out of silver. And they say, “Let the men who give gifts in worship kiss the calf-gods!” So they will be like the morning cloud, and like the water on the grass in the early morning which is soon gone. They will be like the dust of the grain that is blown away from the grain-floor, and like smoke from a fire.

Now they sin more and more;

cleverly fashioned images,
    all of them the work of craftsmen.(C)
It is said of these people,
    “They offer human sacrifices!
    They kiss[a](D) calf-idols!(E)
Therefore they will be like the morning mist,
    like the early dew that disappears,(F)
    like chaff(G) swirling from a threshing floor,(H)
    like smoke(I) escaping through a window.

“But I have been the Lord your God
    ever since you came out of Egypt.(J)
You shall acknowledge(K) no God but me,(L)
    no Savior(M) except me.
