12 For our offenses(A) are many in your sight,
and our sins testify(B) against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
    and we acknowledge our iniquities:(C)
13 rebellion(D) and treachery against the Lord,
turning our backs(E) on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,(F)
uttering lies(G) our hearts have conceived.
14 So justice(H) is driven back,
    and righteousness(I) stands at a distance;
truth(J) has stumbled in the streets,
    honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth(K) is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.

The Lord looked and was displeased
    that there was no justice.(L)
16 He saw that there was no one,(M)
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;(N)
so his own arm achieved salvation(O) for him,
and his own righteousness(P) sustained him.

11 “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep(G) and look after them. 12 As a shepherd(H) looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture(N) on the mountains of Israel.(O) 15 I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down,(P) declares the Sovereign Lord.(Q) 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays.
