Hezekiah’s Prayer^(A)

¹⁴ Hezekiah received the letter^(B) from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple^(C) of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.

⁴ It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule^(A) the living God,^(B) and that he will rebuke him for the words the Lord your God has heard.^(C) Therefore pray^(D) for the remnant^(E) that still survives.”

¹⁷ Give ear, Lord, and hear;^(A) open your eyes, Lord, and see;^(B) listen to all the words Sennacherib^(C) has sent to ridicule^(D) the living God.^(E)

¹² Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my predecessors deliver^(A) them—the gods of Gozan,^(B) Harran,^(C) Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?
