16 “(A)Wash yourselves, (B)make yourselves clean;
(C)Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
(D)Stop doing evil,
17 Learn to do good;
(E)Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor,
(F)Obtain justice for the orphan,
Plead for the widow’s case.

18 “Come now, and (G)let us [a]debate your case,”
Says the Lord,
“(H)Though your sins are as scarlet,
They shall become as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be like wool.
19 (I)If you are willing and obedient,
You will (J)eat the best of the land;

3 (A)Perhaps the house of Judah will listen to all the disaster which I plan to carry out against them, so that every person will (B)turn from his evil way; then I will (C)forgive their wrongdoing and their sin.”
4 Then Jeremiah called (D)Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on a [a](E)scroll [b]at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him. 5 Jeremiah then commanded Baruch, saying, “I am [c](F)restricted; I cannot go into the house of the Lord. 6 So you go and (G)read from the scroll, which you have (H)written [d]at my dictation, the words of the Lord [e]to the people at the Lord’s house on a day of (I)fasting. And you shall also read them [f]to all the people of Judah who come from their cities. 7 (J)Perhaps their pleading will [g]come before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way; for (K)great is the anger and the wrath that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”

3 Perhaps(A) when the people of Judah hear(B) about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn(C) from their wicked ways; then I will forgive(D) their wickedness and their sin.”
4 So Jeremiah called Baruch(E) son of Neriah,(F) and while Jeremiah dictated(G) all the words the Lord had spoken to him, Baruch wrote them on the scroll.(H) 5 Then Jeremiah told Baruch, “I am restricted; I am not allowed to go to the Lord’s temple. 6 So you go to the house of the Lord on a day of fasting(I) and read to the people from the scroll the words of the Lord that you wrote as I dictated.(J) Read them to all the people of Judah(K) who come in from their towns. 7 Perhaps they will bring their petition(L) before the Lord and will each turn(M) from their wicked ways, for the anger(N) and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.”
