¹⁷ Learn to do right;^(A) seek justice.^(B)
    Defend the oppressed.^[a](C)
Take up the cause of the fatherless;^(D)
    plead the case of the widow.^(E)

“‘Administer justice^(A) every morning;
    rescue from the hand of the oppressor^(B)
    the one who has been robbed,
or my wrath will break out and burn like fire^(C)
    because of the evil^(D) you have done—
    burn with no one to quench^(E) it.

⁸ He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
    And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly^(A) and to love mercy
    and to walk humbly^[a](B) with your God.^(C)
