Isaiah 1:29-31

29 Shame will cover you, and you will blush to think of all those times you sacrificed to idols in your groves of “sacred” oaks. 30 You will perish like a withered tree or a garden without water. 31 The strongest among you will disappear like burning straw; your evil deeds are the spark that sets the straw on fire, and no one will be able to put it out.

29 “You will be ashamed(A) because of the sacred oaks(B)
in which you have delighted;
you will be disgraced because of the gardens(C)
that you have chosen.
30 You will be like an oak with fading leaves,(D)
like a garden without water.
31 The mighty man will become tinder
and his work a spark;
both will burn together,
with no one to quench the fire.(E)”
