⁴ Alas, sinful nation,
People heavy with iniquity,
^(A)Seed of evildoers,
Sons who ^(B)act corruptly!
They have ^(C)forsaken Yahweh;
They have ^(D)spurned the Holy One of Israel;
They have ^[a]become estranged ^[b]from Him.

¹⁷ Therefore the Lord ^(A)is not glad in their choice men,
^(B)Nor does He have compassion on their ^[a]orphans or their widows;
For every one of them is ^(C)godless and an ^(D)evildoer,
And every ^(E)mouth is speaking wicked foolishness.
^(F)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn back,
And His hand is still stretched out.
