18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful fields both soul [a]and flesh: and he shall be as the [b]fainting of a standard bearer.

19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may tell them.

20 ¶ And at that day shall the remnant of Israel and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, stay no more upon him that smote them, but shall [c]stay upon the Lord, the Holy one of Israel in truth.

18 The splendor of his forests(A) and fertile fields
    it will completely destroy,(B)
    as when a sick person wastes away.
19 And the remaining trees of his forests(C) will be so few(D)
    that a child could write them down.

The Remnant of Israel

20 In that day(E) the remnant of Israel,
    the survivors(F) of Jacob,
will no longer rely(G) on him
    who struck them down(H)
but will truly rely(I) on the Lord,
    the Holy One of Israel.(J)
