⁶ Wail,^(A) for the day^(B) of the Lord is near;
    it will come like destruction^(C) from the Almighty.^[a](D)

¹² Cry out and wail, son of man,
    for it is against my people;
    it is against all the princes of Israel.
They are thrown to the sword
    along with my people.
Therefore beat your breast.^(A)

⁵ Wake up, you drunkards, and weep!
    Wail, all you drinkers of wine;^(A)
wail because of the new wine,
    for it has been snatched^(B) from your lips.

¹¹ Despair, you farmers,^(A)
    wail, you vine growers;
grieve for the wheat and the barley,^(B)
    because the harvest of the field is destroyed.^(C)
