Isaiah 13:7-9
New English Translation

7 For this reason all hands hang limp,[a]
every human heart loses its courage.[b]
8 They panic—
cramps and pain seize hold of them
like those of a woman who is straining to give birth.
They look at one another in astonishment;
their faces are flushed red.[c]
9 Look, the Lord’s day of judgment[d] is coming;
it is a day of cruelty and savage, raging anger,[e]
destroying[f] the earth[g]
and annihilating its sinners.

New International Version

7 Because of this, all hands will go limp,(A)
    every heart will melt with fear.(B)
8 Terror(C) will seize them,
    pain and anguish will grip(D) them;
    they will writhe like a woman in labor.(E)
They will look aghast at each other,
    their faces aflame.(F)

9 See, the day(G) of the Lord is coming
    —a cruel(H) day, with wrath(I) and fierce anger(J)—
to make the land desolate
    and destroy the sinners within it.
