¹⁰ Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards;^(A)
    no one sings or shouts^(B) in the vineyards;
no one treads^(C) out wine at the presses,^(D)
    for I have put an end to the shouting.

¹² The vine is dried up
    and the fig tree is withered;^(A)
the pomegranate,^(B) the palm and the apple^[a] tree—
    all the trees of the field—are dried up.^(C)
Surely the people’s joy
    is withered away.
