    “Kíyèsi i, Damasku kò ní jẹ́ ìlú mọ́
    ṣùgbọ́n yóò padà di ààtàn.
Àwọn ìlú Aroeri ni a ó kọ̀sílẹ̀
    fún àwọn agbo ẹran tí yóò máa sùn síbẹ̀,
    láìsí ẹni tí yóò dẹ́rùbà wọ́n.
Ìlú olódi ni yóò pòórá kúrò ní Efraimu,
    àti agbára ọba kúrò ní Damasku;
àwọn àṣẹ́kù Aramu yóò dá
    gẹ́gẹ́ bí ògo ti àwọn Israẹli,”
    ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.

17 A prophecy(A) against Damascus:(B)

“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
    but will become a heap of ruins.(C)
The cities of Aroer(D) will be deserted
    and left to flocks,(E) which will lie down,(F)
    with no one to make them afraid.(G)
The fortified(H) city will disappear from Ephraim,
    and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
    like the glory(I) of the Israelites,”(J)
declares the Lord Almighty.

“Inú Hamati àti Arpadi bàjẹ́ nítorí wọ́n gbọ́ ìròyìn búburú, ìjayà dé bá wọn,
    wọ́n sì dààmú bí omi Òkun.
24 Damasku di aláìlera, ó pẹ̀yìndà
    láti sálọ, ìwárìrì sì dé bá a,
ìbẹ̀rù àti ìrora dìímú, ìrora
    bí ti obìnrin tí ó wà ní ipò ìrọbí.
25 Kí ló dé tí ìlú olókìkí di ohun ìkọ̀sílẹ̀;
    ìlú tí mo dunnú sí.
26 Lóòtítọ́, àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin rẹ
    yóò ṣubú lójú pópó, gbogbo
àwọn ọmọ-ogun rẹ yóò pa
    ẹnu mọ́ ní ọjọ́ náà,”
    Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
27 “Èmi yóò fi iná sí odi Damasku,
    yóò sì jó gbọ̀ngàn Beni-Hadadi run.”

23 Concerning Damascus:(A)

“Hamath(B) and Arpad(C) are dismayed,
    for they have heard bad news.
They are disheartened,
    troubled like[a] the restless sea.(D)
24 Damascus has become feeble,
    she has turned to flee
    and panic has gripped her;
anguish and pain have seized her,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.(E)
25 Why has the city of renown not been abandoned,
    the town in which I delight?
26 Surely, her young men(F) will fall in the streets;
    all her soldiers will be silenced(G) in that day,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
27 “I will set fire(H) to the walls of Damascus;(I)
    it will consume(J) the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.(K)
