And help shall cease from Ephraim, and a realm from Damascus; and the remnants of Syria shall be as the glory of the sons of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts. (And no longer shall there be help, or any defence, for Ephraim, and no longer shall there be a kingdom in Damascus; and the remnants of Syria shall be like the glory of the Israelites, saith the Lord of hosts.)

The fortified(A) city will disappear from Ephraim,
    and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
    like the glory(B) of the Israelites,”(C)
declares the Lord Almighty.

“In that day(D) the glory(E) of Jacob will fade;
    the fat of his body will waste(F) away.
It will be as when reapers harvest the standing grain,
    gathering(G) the grain in their arms—
as when someone gleans heads of grain(H)
    in the Valley of Rephaim.(I)
