Isaiah 22:11-13
International Children’s Bible
11 You made a pool between the two walls.
It was to save water from the old pool.
But you did not trust the God who made these things.
You did not respect the One who planned them long ago.
12 The Master, the Lord of heaven’s armies, told the people
to cry and be sad.
He told them to shave their heads and wear rough cloth.
13 But look. The people are happy.
There are wild parties.
They kill the cattle and the sheep.
They eat the food and drink the wine.
They say, “Let us eat and drink,
because tomorrow we will die.”

New International Version
11 You built a reservoir between the two walls(A)
for the water of the Old Pool,(B)
but you did not look to the One who made it,
or have regard(C) for the One who planned(D) it long ago.
12 The Lord, the Lord Almighty,
called you on that day(E)
to weep(F) and to wail,
to tear out your hair(G) and put on sackcloth.(H)
13 But see, there is joy and revelry,(I)
slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep,
eating of meat and drinking of wine!(J)
“Let us eat and drink,” you say,
“for tomorrow we die!”(K)
