Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition

4 Therefore have I said: Depart from me, I will weep bitterly: labour not to comfort me, for the devastation of the daughter of my people.

New International Version
2 you town so full of commotion,
you city of tumult(A) and revelry?(B)
Your slain(C) were not killed by the sword,(D)
nor did they die in battle.
3 All your leaders have fled(E) together;
they have been captured(F) without using the bow.
All you who were caught were taken prisoner together,
having fled while the enemy was still far away.
4 Therefore I said, “Turn away from me;
let me weep(G) bitterly.
Do not try to console me
over the destruction of my people.”(H)
