^9 (A)The earth mourns and languishes,
Lebanon is shamed and shriveled;
Sharon is like a wilderness,
And Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.

²⁸ For this ^(A)shall the earth mourn,
And ^(B)the heavens above be black,
Because I have spoken.
I have ^(C)purposed and ^(D)will not relent,
Nor will I turn back from it.

⁴ How long will ^(A)the land mourn,
And the herbs of every field wither?
^(B)The beasts and birds are consumed,
^(C)For the wickedness of those who dwell there,
Because they said, “He will not see our final end.”
