² For You have made a city into a ^(A)heap,
A ^(B)fortified city into a ruin;
A ^(C)palace of strangers is a city no more,
It will never be rebuilt.

² “Therefore behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“That I will cause a ^[a](A)trumpet blast of war to be heard
Against ^(B)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon;
And it will become a desolate heap,
And her ^(C)towns will be set on fire.
Then Israel will take ^(D)possession of his possessors,”
Says the Lord.

⁶ For I will make Samaria a ^(A)heap of ruins ^[a]in the open country,
^(B)Planting places for a vineyard.
I will ^(C)pour her stones down into the valley
And will ^(D)lay bare her foundations.
