You contended with them [a]by banishing them, by (A)driving them away.
With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the (B)east wind.
Therefore through this Jacob’s wrongdoing will be (C)forgiven;
And this will be [b]the full price of the [c](D)pardoning of his sin:
When he makes all the (E)altar stones like pulverized chalk stones;
When [d]Asherim and incense altars will not stand.
10 For the fortified city is (F)isolated,
A [e]homestead deserted and abandoned like the desert;
(G)There the calf will graze,
And there it will lie down and [f]feed on its branches.
