Isaiah 29:12-14

12 And if you hand it to someone who cannot read and say to him, “Please read this,” he will reply, “I cannot read.”
13 [a]Then the Lord said:
Because this people draws near to me
only with their words
and honors me only with their lips
while their hearts are far from me,
and their reverence for me has become
nothing but a human commandment
that has been memorized,
14 therefore, I will continue to deal with this people
in shocking and amazing ways.
The wisdom of their wise men will perish,
and the understanding of their discerning men will cease.

- Isaiah 29:13 Jesus will remind the Pharisees of this passage of Isaiah (Mt 15:7). “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt 7:21).

12 Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, “Read this, please,” they will answer, “I don’t know how to read.”
13 The Lord says:
“These people(A) come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,(B)
but their hearts are far from me.(C)
Their worship of me
is based on merely human rules they have been taught.[a](D)
14 Therefore once more I will astound these people
with wonder upon wonder;(E)
the wisdom of the wise(F) will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.(G)”
