(A)Be delayed and wait,
Blind yourselves and be blind;
They (B)become drunk, but not with wine,
They stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the Lord has poured over you a spirit of deep (C)sleep,
He has (D)shut your eyes, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, the seers.

11 The entire vision will be to you like the words of a sealed [a](E)book, which when they give it to the one who [b]is literate, saying, “Please read this,” he will say, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 Then the [c]book will be given to the one who [d]is illiterate, saying, “Please read this.” And he will say, “I [e]cannot read.”

13 Then the Lord said,

“Because (F)this people draw near with their [f]words
And honor Me with their [g]lip service,
But they remove their hearts far from Me,
And their [h]reverence for Me [i]consists of [j]tradition learned by rote,

And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.”

False Prophets

13 But, “Ah, Lord [a]God!” I said, “Look, the prophets are telling them, ‘You (A)will not see the sword nor will you have famine, but I will give you [b]lasting (B)peace in this place.’” 14 Then the Lord said to me, “The (C)prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. (D)I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a (E)false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own [c]minds.
