20 Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself any longer, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.(A) 21 And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”(B) 22 Then you will defile your silver-covered idols and your gold-plated images. You will scatter them like impure things; you will say to them, “Away with you!”(C)

20 Although the Lord gives you the bread(A) of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers(B) will be hidden(C) no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice(D) behind you, saying, “This is the way;(E) walk in it.” 22 Then you will desecrate your idols(F) overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold;(G) you will throw them away like a menstrual(H) cloth and say to them, “Away with you!(I)”
