New International Version

11 The desert owl[a](A) and screech owl[b] will possess it;
    the great owl[c] and the raven(B) will nest there.
God will stretch out over Edom(C)
    the measuring line of chaos(D)
    and the plumb line(E) of desolation.

New American Standard Bible

7 So He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing [a]by a [b]vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand. 8 And the Lord said to me, “(A)What do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,

“Behold I am about to put a (B)plumb line
In the midst of My people Israel.
I will not [c](C)spare them any longer.

New International Version

7 This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb,[a] with a plumb line[b] in his hand. 8 And the Lord asked me, “What do you see,(A) Amos?(B)”

“A plumb line,(C)” I replied.

Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(D)
