⁸ For the Lord has a day^(A) of vengeance,^(B)
    a year of retribution,^(C) to uphold Zion’s cause.

⁴ say^(A) to those with fearful hearts,^(B)
    “Be strong, do not fear;^(C)
your God will come,^(D)
    he will come with vengeance;^(E)
with divine retribution
    he will come to save^(F) you.”

¹⁷ He put on righteousness as his breastplate,^(A)
    and the helmet^(B) of salvation on his head;
he put on the garments^(C) of vengeance^(D)
    and wrapped himself in zeal^(E) as in a cloak.

⁴ It was for me the day of vengeance;^(A)
    the year for me to redeem had come.

⁶ “Flee^(A) from Babylon!
    Run for your lives!
    Do not be destroyed because of her sins.^(B)
It is time^(C) for the Lord’s vengeance;^(D)
    he will repay^(E) her what she deserves.
