Isaiah 36:10-12
Common English Bible
10 What’s more, do you think I’ve marched against this place to destroy it without the Lord’s support? It was the Lord who told me, ‘March against this land and destroy it!’”
11 Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the field commander, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, because we understand it. Don’t speak with us in Hebrew,[a] because the people on the wall will hear it.”
12 The field commander said to them, “Did my master send me to speak these words just to you and your master and not also to the men on the wall? They are the ones who will have to eat their dung and drink their urine along with you.”

New International Version
10 Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the Lord? The Lord himself told(A) me to march against this country and destroy it.’”
11 Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah(B) said to the field commander, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic,(C) since we understand it. Don’t speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”
12 But the commander replied, “Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the people sitting on the wall—who, like you, will have to eat their own excrement and drink their own urine?(D)”
