22 So this is what the Lord has said against Sennacherib:

The people of Jerusalem
    hate you and make fun of you;
the people of Jerusalem
    laugh at you as you run away.
23 You have insulted me and spoken against me;
    you have raised your voice against me.
You have a proud look on your face,
    which is against me, the Holy One of Israel!
24 You have sent your messengers to insult the Lord.
    You have said, “With my many chariots
I have gone to the tops of the mountains,
    to the highest mountains of Lebanon.
I have cut down its tallest cedars
    and its best pine trees.
I have gone to its greatest heights
    and its best forests.

23 Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed?(D)
    Against whom have you raised your voice(E)
and lifted your eyes in pride?(F)
    Against the Holy One(G) of Israel!
24 By your messengers
    you have ridiculed the Lord.
And you have said,
    ‘With my many chariots(H)
I have ascended the heights of the mountains,
    the utmost heights(I) of Lebanon.(J)
I have cut down its tallest cedars,
    the choicest of its junipers.(K)
I have reached its remotest heights,
    the finest of its forests.
