⁴ The Lord will wash away the filth^(A) of the women of Zion;^(B) he will cleanse^(C) the bloodstains^(D) from Jerusalem by a spirit^[a] of judgment^(E) and a spirit^[b] of fire.^(F)

³³ And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water^(A) told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’^(B)

³ They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. ⁴ All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit^(A) and began to speak in other tongues^[a](B) as the Spirit enabled them.

¹⁶ Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with^[a] water,^(A) but you will be baptized with^[b] the Holy Spirit.’^(B)

⁵ he saved us,^(A) not because of righteous things we had done,^(B) but because of his mercy.^(C) He saved us through the washing^(D) of rebirth and renewal^(E) by the Holy Spirit,
