Isaiah 42:22-24
Lexham English Bible

22 But[a] this is a people plundered and looted; all of them are trapped in holes,
    and they are kept hidden in houses of imprisonment.
They have become like plunder, and there is no one who saves;
    like booty, and there is no one who says, “Restore!”
23 Who among you will heed this,
    will listen attentively and listen, for the time to come?[b]
24 Who gave Jacob to a plunderer[c]
    and Israel to those who plunder?

Was it not Yahweh, against whom[d] we have sinned?

And they were not willing to walk in his ways,
    and they would not obey[e] his law.

New International Version

22 But this is a people plundered(A) and looted,
    all of them trapped in pits(B)
    or hidden away in prisons.(C)
They have become plunder,
    with no one to rescue them;(D)
they have been made loot,
    with no one to say, “Send them back.”

23 Which of you will listen to this
    or pay close attention(E) in time to come?
24 Who handed Jacob over to become loot,
    and Israel to the plunderers?(F)
Was it not the Lord,(G)
    against whom we have sinned?
For they would not follow(H) his ways;
    they did not obey his law.(I)
