Isaiah 42:3-5

International Standard Version

³A crushed reed he will not break,
    and a fading candle^[a] he won’t snuff out.^[b]
        He’ll bring forth^[c] justice for the truth.
⁴And^[d] he won’t grow faint or be crushed
    until he establishes justice on the mainland,
        and the coastlands take ownership of^[e] his Law.”

    the God^[f] who created the heavens
        and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and its produce,
    who gives breath to the people on it
        and life^[g] to those who walk in it:
