Isaiah 50:3-5

3 I can make the skies dark.
    I can cover the skies in darkness as black as sackcloth.”

God’s Servant Depends on God

4 The Lord God gave me the ability to teach, so now I teach these sad people. Every morning he wakes me and teaches me like a student. 5 The Lord God helps me learn, and I have not turned against him. I will not stop following him.

3 I clothe the heavens with darkness(A)
    and make sackcloth(B) its covering.”

4 The Sovereign Lord(C) has given me a well-instructed tongue,(D)
    to know the word that sustains the weary.(E)
He wakens me morning by morning,(F)
    wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.(G)
5 The Sovereign Lord(H) has opened my ears;(I)
    I have not been rebellious,(J)
    I have not turned away.
