Isaiah 54:6-8 New English Translation (NET Bible)

“Indeed, the Lord will call you back
like a wife who has been abandoned and suffers from depression,[a]
like a young wife when she has been rejected,” says your God.
“For a short time I abandoned[b] you,
but with great compassion I will gather you.
In a burst[c] of anger I rejected you[d] momentarily,
but with lasting devotion I will have compassion on you,”
says your Protector,[e] the Lord.

Isaiah 54:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

The Lord will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected,” says your God.
“For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,”
    says the Lord your Redeemer.
