²⁰“The Redeemer^(A) will come to Zion,^(B)
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”^(C)
declares the Lord.

²¹“As for me, this is my covenant^(D) with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit,^(E) who is on you, will not depart from you,^(F) and my words that I have put in your mouth^(G) will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.

⁸But God found fault with the people and said^[a]:

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
    when I will make a new covenant^(A)
with the people of Israel
    and with the people of Judah.
⁹It will not be like the covenant
    I made with their ancestors^(B)
when I took them by the hand
    to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
    and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
¹⁰This is the covenant^(C) I will establish with the people of Israel
    after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
    and write them on their hearts.^(D)
I will be their God,
    and they will be my people.^(E)
¹¹No longer will they teach their neighbor,
    or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
