¹⁴ Therefore, the Lord himself will give you^[a] a sign: See, the virgin will conceive,^[b] have a son, and name him Immanuel.^[c](A)

The Triumphal Entry

21 When they approached Jerusalem^(A) and came to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives,^(B) Jesus then sent two disciples, ² telling them, “Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a donkey tied there with her colt. Untie them and bring them to me. ³ If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them at once.”

⁴ This took place so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled:

⁴⁴ He told them, “These are my words^(A) that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets,^(B) and the Psalms^(C) must be fulfilled.”

² which he promised beforehand^(A) through his prophets^(B) in the Holy Scriptures— ³ concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David^[a](C) according to the flesh^{(D) 4} and was appointed to be the powerful^(E) Son of God^(F) according to the Spirit of holiness^[b] by the resurrection of the dead.
