⁶ “Inasmuch as these people refused
The waters of ^(A)Shiloah that flow softly,
And rejoice ^(B)in Rezin and in Remaliah’s son;
⁷ Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them
The waters of ^[a]the River, strong and mighty—
The king of Assyria and all his glory;
He will ^[b]go up over all his channels
And go over all his banks.
⁸ He will pass through Judah,
He will overflow and pass over,
^(C)He will reach up to the neck;
And the stretching out of his wings
Will ^[c]fill the breadth of Your land, O ^(D)Immanuel.^[d]

“Because you ^(A)despise this word,
And trust in oppression and perversity,
And rely on them,
¹³ Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
^(B)Like a breach ready to fall,
A bulge in a high wall,
Whose breaking ^(C)comes suddenly, in an instant.
¹⁴ And ^(D)He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel,
Which is broken in pieces;
He shall not spare.
So there shall not be found among its fragments
^[a]A shard to take fire from the hearth,
Or to take water from the cistern.”
