9 “(A)Be broken, you peoples, and be [a](B)shattered;
And listen, all remote places of the earth.
[b]Get ready, yet be [c]shattered;
[d]Get ready, yet be [e]shattered.
10 (C)Devise a plan, but it will fail;
State a [f]proposal, but (D)it will not stand,
For [g](E)God is with us.”
11 For so the Lord spoke to me [h]with (F)mighty power and instructed me (G)not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

9 Raise the war cry,[a](A) you nations, and be shattered!(B)
Listen, all you distant lands.
Prepare(C) for battle, and be shattered!
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
10 Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;(D)
propose your plan, but it will not stand,(E)
for God is with us.[b](F)
11 This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me,(G) warning me not to follow(H) the way of this people:
